Dear Family and Friends,
I am writing you to share another exciting opportunity that God has presented to me. I have been given the chance to return to Jamaica with 12 other members of my local church family, and continue the work we started there in November of 2008. Many of you have partnered with me in the past and I look forward to continuing this journey with you.
As I have continued to grow in the Lord and have learned what it means to be part of the body of God, it has become obvious to me that sometimes I must emerge from my own little world and pay attention to the many needs of the hurting world around me. I must leave my comfort zone, step out from above my safety net, and trust God to lead me and use me to provide for those desperately needing to see Jesus. I must be willing to allow God, as He sees fit, to use me for the work He has prepared in advance.
I have taken this step of faith and I am truly humbled to have the privilege of being the hands and voice of Christ as part of a team from The Hubbard Church of the Nazarene. Our team will be serving on a 13-day work & witness mission trip to the city of Frome in Westmoreland, Jamaica.
The trip is being scheduled from February 1st to February 13th, 2011. The cost is approximately $1,275.00 per team member, which covers airfare, food, lodging, and any necessary tools and materials required to complete our work. We will also be taking along some much needed supplies, clothing and bibles to give away. Each team member is responsible for raising their own financial and prayer support; therefore, I am reaching out to you for assistance with my financial obligations and to be part of my prayer team. I know that during this “economic crisis” many will hesitate to give a little extra. Let me encourage you in your faith. God is able to provide in ways we do not understand. Ephesians 3:20a states, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…” God is faithful! Trust him and see.
The purpose of the work and witness trip is to join with our Jamaican brothers and sisters in Christ to finish building the District Center at the Mt. Shiloh Church of the Nazarene, and to share the love of Jesus in the surrounding neighborhoods through our work and by visiting with them in their homes.
Please pray that God will open the hearts of the Jamaican people, that there will be unity among our work & witness team. Please pray that God would work in and through us by providing good health and strength to complete the work, as well as give us His words to share His message of love.
I am very excited about this trip! Please consider becoming a vital part of our team as God leads you to pray for and give to this mission. Financial support is essential to go on this trip, but of greater importance is your commitment to pray for me as well as the entire team.
Let me thank you in advance for you prayer and support as together we obey the Lord’s command by responding to His Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
In His service,
David
